5 Small Decisions That Can Change Your Life Forever

5-small-decisions-that-can-change-your-life

If you think you need to do something big and extraordinary to change your life or achieve something great, you’re probably wrong, my dear reader.

And if you’re someone who believes in overnight success, let me tell you — it’s next to impossible. A viral video can change your life, but it cannot create a life for you.

Wondering why I’m blabbering all this right at the beginning of this blog?

First of all, thank you for clicking on this blog link. I can see that you’re willing to do something in life and change it for the better. Isn’t it? Otherwise, why would you be here?

So, let’s try to understand how these five small decisions can change your life forever:

1. Forgiving and forgetting

You won’t believe it, but I’ve spent years holding grudges and not letting go of the bad things people did to me. Sometimes someone hurts you so deeply that it becomes nearly impossible to stop thinking about that moment — let alone forget the inappropriate words that were said to you.

But you know what? Holding grudges only harms you in the long run. Constantly replaying those events not only pulls you into an unpleasant rut but also drains your time and energy.

So, the best solution to avoid unnecessary drama in your life is to forgive and forget.

It takes time — just like it took me years to forgive and then forget. But believe me, it was the best decision of my life. Sometimes, you need to let go of a lot of things for the sake of your own happiness.

2. Consistency is the Key

I cannot emphasize enough how there is no substitute for consistency. As social media is turning into a career option for many, it’s not that one viral video that makes someone successful — it’s the everyday consistency of creating content. That’s the real mantra behind their success.

Applying the same principle in your own life can change everything. For instance, exercising daily and consistently can get you back in shape and help you stay fit.

Or doing something you love on a regular basis can make you better at it — just like I got better at writing blogs, creating videos, narrating voiceovers, and so on.

3. Stop Overthinking

I know it’s easier said than done. But overthinking is like a termite — it doesn’t destroy you overnight; it slowly and silently eats away at your peace. One thought turns into ten, and before you realise it, your confidence, clarity, and calm begin to weaken from within. It never solves the problem — it only destroys the person thinking about it.

I have been a big-time overthinker, and I confess it has broken me into pieces multiple times, only for me to now realise how much damage was already done.

But the day I decided to put an end to it, or at least divert myself whenever I entered that phase, my life only got better.

Pro-tip: Whenever you feel you’re overthinking that one particular thing, first follow the first point (forgive and forget) and then immediately distract yourself by doing something you genuinely enjoy — even if it means watching old episodes of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Just do what brings you joy. Once you build this habit of replacing your thoughts, I’m sure you’ll overcome overthinking very soon.

4. Do Not Quit

Have you seen that image where a man is digging the ground to reach a treasure but quits midway — when the treasure is just a few meters away?

I’ve been writing for the past 15 years. And I’m so glad I never quit. Because this writing of mine has given me so much in just the last one year.

Now imagine if I had quit in the first 14 years and chosen another path — wouldn’t I have missed the outcome of years of hard work?

Anything new you begin in life takes time before it shows results. So, keep doing whatever you’re doing with consistency and stop overthinking the outcome. It will come to you at the right time.

5. Ignore

I think we should all include this word in our lives forever, because — ignorance is bliss.

There will be tons of people who will try to pull you back, criticise your work, or say unpleasant things about you — but you must ignore them. You cannot afford to shift your focus to entertain the noise. Focus on the good you’re doing, and it will pay off one day.

Being in the creative field, I’ve always heard things like “this is just a hobby” or “who is going to read your book?” — and that too from my own people. But I turned a deaf ear to all of them and kept doing what I loved.

Today, when I sit and reflect on the years I’ve spent working on my passion, I realise I’ve genuinely followed all the points above. It’s like that last option in an MCQ — all of the above.

You need to take all these five steps to see a bigger impact in your life. Only then can you truly change it.
