People often say, “My college has given me a lot.” Career, placement, a bunch of crazy friends, wonderful memories, and most importantly, lessons on how to sustain in the world outside.
We all come out of college as different people—more mature, responsible, focused, and confident. Maybe that’s what college does to us; it prepares you to face the real world all by yourself.
But apart from these things, sometimes you get something you never enroll for, never plan for, and often realize much later.
For me, the best thing I got out of college wasn’t written on a certificate, didn’t come with grades, and certainly wasn’t part of the syllabus. It was a person. A presence that grew silently alongside deadlines and dreams, friendship and familiarity, until one day it turned into something permanent.
My husband.
The other day, I stumbled upon a post on Instagram—“The best thing I got out of college is…”—and without reading the carousel further, my brain and heart completed the sentence.
Isn’t it amusing how late you realise the most obvious things in life?
It’s been 15 years—almost half my life—that I have known my husband. We’ve practically seen each other grow in various aspects of life.
This blog post is special because I’ve never written an appreciation post for my husband, something I should have done long back.
In a world where couples celebrate 20, 30, and even 40-lakh packages, along with luxurious, picture-perfect lifestyles, here is my husband—quietly standing by me, supporting my passion.
I know many of my male friends who walk into marriage with clauses, conditions, and neatly made Excel sheets. But I’m lucky to have a husband who has always prioritized my passion above everything else. He knows that writing is as essential to me as breathing—and in knowing that, he has become my oxygen mask.
He’s my silent cheerleader. His comments often end with a simple “keep it up,” a gentle reminder that I should continue doing exactly what I’m doing.
My Marathi YouTube channel wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for my husband’s encouragement. Today, as I write this blog, we’re a strong 15k+ family on YouTube.
He’s also constantly nudging me to start posting videos on my English channel as well, but I already have too much on my plate right now. Still, I’ll have to abide by his nudge—because he’s always right, you see.
So yes, college gave me a degree, memories, friendships, and lessons for life. But it also gave me something far more lasting—someone who chose belief over conditions, encouragement over expectations, and quiet support over loud validation.
This is not a grand love story measured in numbers, packages, or milestones. It’s a shared journey built on patience, understanding, and the freedom to become who I truly am. If today I write, create, and find the courage to keep showing up as myself, it’s because someone once looked at my passion and said, “Keep it up.”
And sometimes, that’s all you need—to breathe, to grow, and to keep going.
