5 Benefits Of Listening To Podcasts | 1 Reason I’m Making Them

audio-podcast

Hey there,

As promised, I’m back here after a short gap. They say, if you want to do something, I-don’t-have-time is never an excuse. You will make time if you really want to do something.

So, here I am, making some time to drop by and share something with the people who matter to me – my readers. I hope you all are doing well and having a wonderful time this festive season.

For the past few years, you know me as a blogger and a writer, but now you’d also know me as a podcaster. Yeah!! I’ve launched my first-ever podcast on Spotify called – The Quarantine Diary. I know you don’t like the word quarantine, but I’ll tell you the reason behind starting this podcast at the end of this blog.

To begin with, and to be honest, I haven’t listened to many podcasts on any of the platforms, but I was and am a big fan of listening to the radio. Back then, when I was in school, say when I was reaching puberty, I came across this show – Aniruddh LLB, which aired at night. I was mesmerized by the RJ’s soothing and manly voice, so much so that I would listen to him almost every day, especially on my low days. Sometimes, I listened to him secretively and with a pinch of guilt as he talked about love in his most erotic voice.

All in all, I enjoyed listening to the voice and never did I wish to see him for his looks. I always wanted the voice to stay with me. Even today, when I close my eyes and try to imagine his voice, I can hear it clearly in my ears, with the same amount of romance and depth in it.

Unwittingly, I had this in the back of my mind – I-wish-I-could-speak-like-this-one-day.

It is rightly said, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”. After around ten years of dreaming, I could finally broadcast my voice, throw it into the universe and ask my readers to become my listeners.

Believe me or not, I hated my voice before trying the voiceovers for my video content on Instagram. But when some of you appreciated my voice, I fell in love with it, too. I decided to take that next big step of starting my podcast.

Having zero knowledge of how to go about it, I learned the basics of podcasting from the internet, and now it’s live on the internet – on Spotify.

I am now listening to different podcasts on Spotify and am amazed to see their effects on me. Hence, I thought of sharing the benefits of listening to podcasts with you:

1. Listening to some podcasts is relaxing

Listening to something soothing is extremely relaxing if you’ve had a bad or hectic day at work. Amidst a pool of information and overwhelming video content, listening to podcasts is the easiest way to relax.

The audio content helps you focus solely on the voice and the story, creating a calming and intense experience.

My personal recommendation for a feel good podcast – Decode dil with Ekta

2. Audio podcasts help you reduce your screen time

While the internet is dominated by video content and content creators (like me) are going crazy creating videos, audio podcasts are an evolving thing now. If you are a victim of mindless scrolling on Instagram, listening to podcasts will be a healthy alternative for you.

Listening to podcasts will reduce the strain on your eyes and save you from the negativity you come across on social media.

3. You can multitask

One of the most helpful benefits of podcasts is that you don’t have to dedicate a specific time to it. You can listen to them while commuting, cooking, exercising, and while you shower. Isn’t that a wonderful idea?

4. Podcasts help you overcome loneliness

This works both ways.

Podcasts help the podcaster to communicate to the listeners across the globe. It is like talking to a large number of people with like mindsets.

Podcasts help people connect to the podcaster through the stories, making them feel happy and less lonely. By listening to the failure/ success stories and different perspectives, people feel they are not alone in the journey/struggle of life. Besides that, people also learn a lot from their experiences.

5. Listening to podcasts is EASY and FREE

The best part is listening to the podcasts is free. You only have to have an account on Spofity, which is again free, plug into your favourite niche, and spend some wonderful time listening to soothing audio.

Most people prefer listening to podcasts at night when the world has slowed down and there’s less distraction, while some people prefer the most stressful time of the day to relax their mind and soul. It’s entirely an individual choice.

If you’ve never heard a podcast or don’t know what it feels like after listening to it, you can try out my podcast. I am talking about my quarantine experience back in the corona times. I chose this topic because, though it is outdated or old, it is an unforgettable part of each of our lives, isn’t it? There’s almost nobody who hasn’t experienced the terror of the coronavirus. The quarantine diary will take you down memory lane and help you value your even life more.

Check out my podcast on Spotify by clicking here if you still need to, and let me know how you feel after listening to it.

See you soon! Till then, take care!

P.S. The one reason why I turned to creating podcasts is to give more value to my readers and to make content easily accessible to the people who refuse to read (I don’t support the idea but unfortunately I have a lot of followers on social media who are non-readers. So it’s exclusively for them).

Sharing is caring!
